Where do you go to get news and insight about your industry? Think about the websites and blogs you read. Are any of authors well known? Do they speak at conferences or get asked to write for magazines? Are they generally accepted as the "experts" in some aspect of business in your industry?

Maybe you want to be that person? We regularly hear smart, talented, insightful business people lamenting the fact that "someone else" got these opportunities.

The good news is, you have all the tools you need to become that person: an industry expert or a "thought leader." All you need to do is invest a little time and effort and be willing to share your expertise through a variety of channels such as blog posts, educational content, e-books, magazine articles, guest blogging, and case studies to name a few.

Make sure the content you offer is timely, relevant to readers and forward-thinking. The freer you share your expertise, the more likely people in your industry - and beyond - will find and follow what you have to say.
