LinkedIn Groups Overhauled

Recently, LinkedIn made major changes to its groups interface, making the desktop and mobile app versions the same.

One of the biggest changes for marketers is that there are no more open groups. If you want to join a “standard” group, you must now request to join. The other option admins have is to make the group “unlisted,” which would require an invitation to join.

Another change is the removal of member search in groups. This could affect how marketers use groups to prospect, no longer able to search members by keywords.

Thirdly, the promotions tab has been removed, thus making it likely that any promotions posted will go into spam.

According to Social Media Examiner, these changes will force marketers to focus more on the content they create and share and to develop relationships within groups.

Do you know someone who should see this?
